Privacy
MemeBinder is built to keep your memes on your computer. This page says exactly what leaves it.
On your computer
Your library — every meme, its tags, names, templates, binders, favourites and how often you use them — is stored in MemeBinder's folder on your computer. None of it is sent anywhere unless you put a meme in a shared binder.
The /meme trigger
To notice when you type the trigger, MemeBinder looks at the last few characters typed in the window you're using. It compares them to the trigger and forgets them; it never stores, logs or sends what you type. You can change the trigger or switch it off in Settings.
Shared binders
When you share or join a binder, MemeBinder talks to its sync service at sync.memebinder.com, which runs on Cloudflare. It stores:
| What | Why |
|---|---|
| The name you chose and a random identity for your copy of the app | So members see who added what. Only a one-way hash of your identity key is stored. |
| The memes in shared binders: the file, title, name, tags and template | So every member's copy can show them. Files are only given to members of a binder that holds them. |
| Each binder's name, members and invite code | So people can join and the owner can manage it. |
| Your IP address, briefly, as a rate-limit key | To stop bots creating accounts in bulk. |
Leaving a binder removes your memes from it. When the owner deletes a binder, its contents are removed from the service. Files no binder uses any more are deleted within about a week.
Saving from the web
When you save a link, MemeBinder downloads it directly from that site, from your computer. X posts are resolved through FxTwitter's public service, which receives the post's address.
What we don't do
No analytics, no advertising, no tracking of what you send or to whom. There's no email address or password to lose, because there's no account.
Importing from stick.my
The importer signs in to stick.my with the code it emails you. That session is held in memory only for the import and is never saved.
